Rahr Silver Gets a Wakeup Call
Rahr Silver battled it out with MPD this past Friday night.  This was the first action in three weeks.  The rust was apparent, especially at the goalie position.  MPD went up a goal within the first 15 minutes with a lucky deflection goal as Silver couldn't get recovered fast enough from a corner kick.  Silver responded with a sweet goal from Eric Kromer to tie the match at 1.  Silver went up on top with another goal by Eric Bryant.  This play seem to go on forever with Eric sticking it out and capturing the third deflection.  Half time was 2-1.  The second half, Silver fell victim to the heat and fell asleep once again.  A costly error by yours truly lead to MPD tying it up 2-2.  Silver pounded it into the box and peppered MPD's goalie with shots, but couldn't get one in.  We even shifted formations to a 3-4-3 to put another player upfront and just didn't have enough time.  Draw 2-2...

Goals got to the Eric's.  They are turning into a great pair upfront.

I guess the positive is that even on our worse day, we still tie....

Streak continues
Rahr Silver took to the field under the Friday night lights...  Finally!!!  A late night game..  No sun.  We kicked off at 8:45 against opponent CDV.  Within 10 minutes of kick off, Silver pulled a Team USA and let a lucky break away goal in.  The ball bounced past two Silver defenders and the shot went right by a sleeping goalie. zzzzzzzz....zzzzzzzzzzz...
Silver would buckle down and score 2 goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.  CDV was denied several times by defenders Mike Templeton and Luis Flores.  Silver would go on to put in 2 more goals before the match ended.  Eric Bryant added 2 more to his season high, team leading 5, while Johnny got his first on a PK and Keith added one more.

Goals:
Eric Bryant -2
Johnny - 1
Keith - 1

Player of the game gets shared with Eric Bryant for scoring twice and Luis Flores for Outstanding Defense.

Silver has the week off for the holiday and will be back in action on July 9th..

Even Chuck Norris can be beat
After fighting to a 1-1 tie last season, Rahr Silver was looking to beat up on the Texas Ranger himself, Chuck Norris.  Silver learned a lesson from last week and came out swinging in the first half.  Eric Bryant scored in the first 5 minutes of the match.  I guess I owe him $5.  Jeff Solberg and Keith Rail added a goal a piece from the center mid positions.  I stayed very clean in goal the first half.  Chuck Norris couldn't help themselves and got yet another red card, so they played the second half one man down.
Even with Chuck Norris down a man, Silver seem to fall asleep.  Chuck Norris got several break aways and I was able to stop two.  They got one lucky goal passed me and the match would end 3-1.  Silver showered the goal with shots, but a new goalie for Chuck Norris was up to the task.  Silver seemed to let up and relax to much.
Thoughts go to Eric Kromer for a speedy recovery.  He took a nasty fall and we first thought he broke his collarbone, but X-rays were negative.  He is going for further tests to see what ligament/tendon damage was done.

Goals go to:
Eric Bryant -1
Keith Rail - 1
Jeff Solberg - 1

Player of the game goes to Mike Templeton for oustanding Defense.

Summer Season is in full swing

Rahr Silver took to the field last night to begin the summer season.  I was happy to see 17 players at the field early and ready to go.  Everyone was eager to avenge last season's last minute PK  loss to this opponent, MPD.  But this was a different Rahr squad.  New comers Eric Kromer, and Jeff Solberg made their presence known from the beginning.  Jeff proved to be the presence in the middle the team was missing last season and Eric K. peppered the goal all game with shots.

As usual, Silver got off to a slow start and the half time score was 1-0 after Eric K.’s goal.  Things were different in the second half as Rahr Silver’s depth wore down the opponent.  Che “offsides” Thoat put a sweet free kick in the back of the net while Carlos B look to one up him with his own corner kick no assist goal.  Eric B. added another goal to his tally from last season to finish things off.  I like the combination of the two Eric’s up front!

Standing in the goal for most of the match, I was able to get a good sub rotation going and get everyone good quality minutes.  After all, what else was I going to do?  My defense didn’t let me touch the ball!!!  Everyone contributed to the win and it’s great to see we don’t miss a beat during our rotation.  It was great to see Johnny “can I get an assist” Ferraro shake off an injury and contribute to the victory.

We are anxious to see how new comer Luis "young buck" Flores can add to the depth at defense next game.

Congrats to Alex Ross on getting married.  Welcome to the club.

Goals go to:

Che Thoat

Eric Kromer

Eric Bryant

Carlos Balderas
