Pugs Claim Title

The Rahr Ugly Pugs were looking to keep their unbeaten streak alive last night, while also hoping to clinch the title for the summer season.  Sage "The Doc" Elwell lead the team to a fantastic season so far and he would not let his fans down on the night they would take the title.  Facing a tough Pumas side, the Pugs knew they would have to earn their title as it would not be given to them.

Ashley Guinn put the Pugs on top 2-0 early in the match when she placed a shot just past the Pumas keeper.  The score stood at 2-0 at halftime, but the Pugs weren't done just yet.  They added 4 to their final count as they rolled over the Pumas, 6-1.

Elwell earned a trophy in just his 2nd season as a manager, while Rahr Original, Ogewu Agbese, claimed his 4th FWASA trophy for the club in just 3 short years.

Baylor All Saints played on Sunday night, with an outside chance of climbing to the top of the table.  Unfortunately, a 4-4 tie with Annihilators left them on the outside looking in.  They wrap up the season next week with a chance to still take 2nd place in the table.

RUP Remains Unbeaten

The Pugs faced Halo on Sunday night, who they had dominated 7-0 just 2 weeks before when Halo only brought 7 players to the match.  Nonetheless, Pugs looked to repeat their performance.

The game was much closer this time as both teams had a full squad.  Ashley Guinn's header early in the match proved to be the only separation between the teams as the Pugs rolled onto a 2-0 win.  Ogewu Agbese made a few critical saves down the stretch to keep a clean sheet and propel the team to a victory.

Rahr Ugly Pugs have put together a perfect season so far winning 5 straight games.  They have outscored their opponents 21-2 and could clinch the title with a win next Sunday.

BAS Chops Burleson Ninjas

Burleson Ninjas entered Sunday night with a perfect recorded and boasted a 3-1 win over Baylor All Saints when Baylor only had 7 players.  It was a heated match where BAS actually took the lead in the 65th minute, only to watch the game slip away as they started to tire.  With that game only 2 weeks old and still in recent memories, everyone knew that Sunday would be a tough battle.

Baylor started out well, possessing the ball and showing they were the more skilled team.  However, the Ninjas struck first on a sloppy breakaway midway through the first half.  Garrett Horvath leveled the match with a 35 yard blast just a few minutes later.  Baylor started to settle in when Burleson struck again to take a 2-1 lead.

The Saints showed great poised and did not panic in the second half as they were confident that would be victorious.  Horvath again found and equalizer putting a well placed shot past the Ninjas keeper.  A short while later, a great build up resulted in Tony Sanchez finding himself alone in front of the goal and he cooly put away the eventual game winner.

That last few minutes were still pretty heated as the Ninjas pushed for an equalizer, but the Saints stood strong and held on for the win.  They look to close out the season with 2 wins, which may give them an outside chance for the title.

Rahrettes Claim Title!

The Rahrettes clinched their second title in as many summer's on Thursday night with a 4-3 win over Emeralds.  Although the win was not the flawless performance that manager Ashley "Babycakes" Carvajal was looking for, it did get the job done.

The women have put together and incredible season so far, outscoring their opponents 42-6, while Emeralds are the only team to score against them.  They go for a perfect season next Thursday against Blue Angels.

What a Finish

Rahr Inter and Rahr United faced each other in a final match that had plenty of implications to it.  Fortunately for Inter, SSC Napoli failed to win their match earlier in the evening, giving them the title.  However, Comets had defeated Blitzkrieg, meaning that Untied would have to earn a point in order to maintain their Premier status.

The match start off very intensely on the Inter side, while United seemed happy to just watch the game.  Any bystander would have assumed exactly the opposite of the scenario described above.  The score remained at nil-nil until the 67th minute when Inter drew a PK.  A neatly placed shot off of the post put them up 1-0, and started the United engines.

It was about the 80th minute when United manager, Wes Martin, put away a header, identical to the US Women's team against Brazil in the World Cup.  Here is the shot that was taken just as he met the ball with his head:

United was not satisfied with a tie and pushed for a second goal just a few minutes later.  Sergio Vasquez put a neat bow on the season with a textbook bicycle kick that ripped the far post side netting.  The referee was quoted as saying "There was a minute left on the watch, but I had to blow the whistle after that goal."

Some how, the result earned third place for United and that was it on the Summer Season.  Final results:

Premier

2nd - FC Rahr

3rd - Rahr United

Division 1 Champions - Rahr Inter

Division 2 Champions - Rahr City

*Insert Title Here*

Monday night presented the opportunity for the RFC Men's Open teams to sweep the league.  There was a Rahr team in the title game for each division.

First, Rahr City earned their first title in team history!  While it was slightly disappointing that it was earned on a forfeit, they still dominated their opponent in a scrimmage, proving that they deserved the title.  City will face a tough challenge in Division 1 in the fall season and will be working to improve in the offseason.

City will work on their verticals and celebrations in the offseason

Rahr Inter was idle for the week, but they needed a few results in order to claim their title.  As luck would have it, both teams trailing Inter didn't earn a win leaving Inter at the top of the Division 1 table.  However, SSC Napoli still had a game to play and could earn enough points to take over 1st by 1 point.  Inter faces United in a tough match next week.

United needed a solid win against Comets in order to keep themselves safe from relegation.  Sergio Vasquez helped the team do just that by earning a hat trick and leading the squad to a 3-1 victory.  Sergio hopes to help United improve their record in the coming season.

FC Rahr played their final match against Spurs in a winner takes the title bout.  However, Spurs brought a much improved squad, including a few semi-pros and potentially MLS bound players.  Rahr still gave it their best effort but were torched to the tune of 5-0.  The lead was held to 3-0 at half time, but there really never was a hope on the Rahr side.  Hopefully, next season will look a little different as teams will not be allowed to bolster their rosters after the 3rd game.

Introducing FC Rahr 30

RFC has experience tremendous growth and success since entering the Over 30 division.  Our Over 30 Director, Chris Costa, has gone about building a strong structure of teams that can support and encourage one another.  After creating 2 teams, earning 2 division titles and making their way to Division 1, RFC has decided to create a 3rd team and take the elite FC Rahr brand to the Over 30 arena.

This fall, Rahr Blue will compete in D3, while Rahr Silver will take on D2.  FC Rahr 30 will be the new team looking to earn the top title in the league.  This team is a great transistion for our experienced players graduating from Men's Open.  To players in our club can play on both FC Rahr and FC Rahr 30 while they transfer into the later stages of their career.

Rahr Blue will be managed by Thom Schloer, who is looking to improve on what Justin Kirchdoerfer has built thus far.  Kirchdoerfer has taken on the Rahr Silver job and will benefit from the efforts Costa has put in for the top team in Over 30.  Both teams are poised to improve and win a title or two in the next few seasons.

Redemption

Rahr Silver and Rahr Blue had been struggling through this season as they tried to find their form.  Both teams started the season with a few changes and hoped to use these 8 games to launch a successful fall campaign.  Silver had managed 7 points with a 2-1-3 record while Blue was 1-1-4 entering Friday night.  Both teams were currently clear of relegation, but a win could clinch their safety from demotion.

Rahr Silver faced Spurs 30, who joined the league this season and has already developed a new rivalry in the Over 30 division.  A win for either team would put them in a strong position for 2nd place in the table.  Silver employed the services of Clayton Everett and Navid Aleghband as they only have 12 men for the match.  The first half was a tough battle and ended at a 1-1 stalemate, but Silver looked poised to take the 3 points.

Spurs 30 only brought 10 men to the match and it started to show in the second half.  Eventually, Silver wore their opponents down and Wes Martin netted the game winner around the 65th minute.  Silver added a 3rd before time expired, but it was evident that they could have produced a lopsided scoreline had they just finished a few more chances.  Nonetheless, the final was 3-1 and Silver has a chance to earn 2nd place in their final match against GTO.

Rahr Blue took on FC Bullocks, who they had beaten in a previous match.  Blue had a bit of pride on the line as they hoped to prove to themselves and the league that they could compete.  When the final whistle had blown, there was no doubt that they had done just that.  Mario Valdez added a few goals for the side as they rolled to a dominating 4-0 performance.  Justin Kirchdoerfer has continually made improvements to the team and his leadership was evident in the teams biggest victory of the season.
