It Rained
The Rahrettes won, again, Rahr Silver actually played to a 2-2 draw, and the boys of summer played in the rain on Monday night. It was yet another week where the Rahr Football Club went without a loss.
Rahr City faced Vagabundos, who were coming off a great win against Viet Sports last week. City knew they would face a tough challenge, but when Alex Ferguson showed up, they knew things would end in their favor. While the rain came down, Bryan Turner went about building a 3-0 lead with a second hat trick in as many weeks. Ogewu Agbese would keep yet another shut out, as City continues to chase the top of the table. City is only 3 points out of first place as Viet beat Maverick 1-0 last night.

Jerry Thompson poses with Alex Ferguson after a great 3-nil win.
Rahr United played in yet another "Battle of the Beers" which has proven to be a little one sided in recent matches. This would be their first match with out skipper, Johnny Ferraro, but "The Professor", Matt Riordan stepped in to lead the team. Chris Lee started things off with a brilliant left footed free kick that pinged off the post, leaving the keeper with no hope. Abe Ademola and Rod Gaffoglio hooked up a few times to score, as "The Prof" commented, "They make a cute couple." Stevan "Cruz" Cruz was called up to take a PK just before halftime, but to everyone's dismay, he hit it straight at the keeper. After the game, Cruz claimed he was trying to boost his counterpart's confidence. Luckily for Cruz, the team broke their 5 goal cap as they went on to a 6-1 victory.
FC Rahr played against Dome City, as both teams looked to secure a solo position in second place. Only one result would eliminate both teams from the chase for first, and as fate would have it, that was the final. Rahr controlled the entire game, while letting up for 30 seconds early in the first half, to go down 1-0. Paul Baker leveled the match at 1-1 before halftime.

Eryc Garcia did his best to distract Dome City, but their keep wasn't fooled.
Rahr threatened the entire second half, creating numerous opportunities and dominating their opponent. Ironically, Dome City had to play a backup keeper, who was somewhere on the bottom of the depth chart. He made save after save, undoubtedly earning himself Man of the Match. Ryan Byerly made a miraculous last minute save as the second half produced no goals and ended the game at a 1-1 draw.
Rahr 6 Pack Players of the Game:
Rahr City - Bryan Turner, 2nd Consecutive Hat Trick
Rahr United - Matt Riordan, New Management
FC Rahr - Dome City's Keeper

Perfection
After the Rahrettes earned a forfeit win and Rahr Silver took a Friday night off, the boys of Rahr took the field on Monday night. It turned out to be rivalry week as United took on former teammates, FW Wanderers and City faced their former top 2 players, Art Fowler and Arthur Kajfosz on Jackalopes. FC Rahr played a long time opponent, PIM SC, only this season, a few of their players double as Silver players on the weekends (very good ones at that). When it was all over, Rahr outscored their opponents 13-2.
Rahr United faced the Gorecki Clan, et al in the first official match after a split before the spring season. FW Wanderers had a great season in Division 2 for the spring, earning 2nd place and an invite to Division 1. United looked to get back on track with a win, after last week's debacle against Comets. Things started quickly as both teams pressed to draw first blood. Once United settled down, it was apparent that they would spend a majority of the game on the Wanderers half. Just before halftime, Charlie Schlott put United on top 1-0 after a scramble in the box.
Johnny Ferraro, who completed 90 minutes of play, fired the team up at half time, urging them to slam the door shut in the second half. Mike Ritchey would do just that, putting away the second goal shortly after the break. The goals would come tumbling out from there as Martin Cleworth and Mike Salcedo would add their mark to the game putting United on top 5-0. After the referee would fail to call an obvious PK for Salcedo, the Wanderers seized an opportunity on the counter as Lukasz Gorecki scored their lone goal. The final tally was 5-1, as the Ferraro Gang celebrated the first victory in what will be a long history of derbys to come.

Rahr City again faced former skipper and top player, Art Fowler and Arthur Kasjfosz. Hollywood made sure the backdrop was just right as he strategically placed 11 men on the field. Those 11 wouldn't hold back as they quickly mounted a 4-0 lead before the end of the first act. After converting a few defenders to forwards and vice versa, City added 2 more goals to put the final score at 6-0. City now leads the club with 2 shutouts on the season, as Ogewu Agbese's leadership and on field abilities have proven to be invaluable to the squad. There can not be enough said about the changes that have been made on the team, as Hollywood continues to direct the team into uncharted territories.
FC Rahr took on PIM SC, who was without their skipper, Jamie Fougerousse. Rahr looked to take advantage of his absence by controlling the ball and the tempo of the game. Newcomer, Dillon Vedral, did just that for the team, as he distributed the ball and managed the game from the center of the field. After countless balls were dumped into Eryc Garcia's path, he finally connected with Ethan DeNolf, who put away his first goal since rejoining the squad from a hamstring injury. Kyle Mittendorf not only played an excellent game at the back, but also added a goal in the second half to put Rahr on top 2-0. Once again, Eryc Garcia was the set up man, as 2 assists would earn him Player of the Game. Rahr failed to capitalize on numerous opportunities and narrowly came out on top 2-1, after giving up a late goal. Nonetheless, their win propelled them into a tie for second, after Panther City's first win of the season over Dome City. Rahr will take on Dome City next week as they have failed to earn a point against them in only 2 match ups in their histories.
6 Pack Players of the Game:
FC Rahr - Eryc Garcia, 2 assists
United - Johnny "White, Red, Black Shoes" Ferraro, Unparalled Leadership
Rahr City - John "Hollywood" Leake, 2nd only to Ferraro's Leadership

1-2 Combo: Silverettes Dominate
After a 3 week lull, filled with World Cup watching and beer drinking, the Men's Open teams found themselves on the pitch. Only one of them remained undefeated, while Rahr Silver and the Rahrettes continued to dominate their leagues. Both teams are undefeated with a death grip on their tables, that some claim causes poor reception on their iFWASA 4 phones. The Rahrettes continue to dominate opponents to the point that some don't even show up to play. Meanwhile Silver narrowly avoided a Walker Texas Ranger brawl in a match for the top of the division, as they went on to beat Chuck Norris. It is rumored that he finally did cry, but his tears were not as potent as expected.
Nonetheless, Rahr United looked to follow in the footsteps of their older and lovelier clubmates, as they took on the 2nd place team in their table. This was an opportunity to take a 5 point lead, virtually securing first place and continue on their path to an undefeated season. Things didn't start well as only 14 Uniteders were available for the game, leaving their top scorer and "The Professor" off the pitch. As such, the Comets quickly took a 3-0 lead on the shorthanded United. Defense, or lack thereof, on both sides allowed for a 6-3 finish. On the upside, Garret Horvath finished with a brace, as he looks to hold a bright future for the Rahr Football Club.
Rahr City managed to have a game in the rain a few weeks ago against Viet Sports, where they lost 4-2. A few notables were a double PK save by Ogewu Agbese and some mentioning of an "uncoordinated puppy" by John Lamberth. City had a shorter break, but it didn't seem to help their cause on Monday night. For the first time this season, they were blanked on the score board, but Manager Hollywood swore that no such feat would ever happen again under his direction. He said "I believe that we've started relying to heavily on the CGI department to fix everything for us, including putting the ball in the net. It's time that we start finishing, on our own, without doubles." Travis Cooper added "Wait, does that guy actually think some one is filming this?"
FC Rahr remained one game under .500 and a long shot for a repeat title this season. Although, there is still plenty to be accomplished this season, including a 3 way battle for the All-Time Goal Scoring crown. On Monday night, Rahr hoped to start the match with a full squad, unlike the previous week. While they achieved that goal, Tony Sanchez was forced to put on the gloves, as he was the only option for a keeper. Sanchez did his best to mimick Jorge Campos and managed to keep a clean sheet in the first half when Ryan Byerly took on the duties for the next half. On the other end, Eryc Garcia picked up a ball from around midfield and carried it all the way into the net for a 1-0 halftime lead. Blitzkrieg would equalize in the second half before Randal McClanahan would pour it on with back to back goals. Paul Baker added a 4th to make it 4-1 as Rahr pulled back to .500.
Week 4 Players of the Game:
Rahr United - Garret Horvath, 2 Goals
Rahr City - Jerry Thompson
FC Rahr - Randal McClanahan, 2 Goals

June 15, 2010 9 Points
All of the Men’s Open teams were in action again this Monday night, as 2 teams looked to occupy the top of the table and FC Rahr hoped for their first win. In a feat that has been accomplished before, albeit on rare occasions, the club earned 9 points on the evening.
Rahr City took on a new team to the league, Vagabundos who remained an unknown quantity after forfeiting their first week. After nearly repeating the result, Vagabundos managed to take the field with 9 players. City decided it would take advantage and jump to a 2-0 lead. Even after Vagabundos fielded a full 11 man squad, Coach Hollywood urged the Citizens to pile on the heat. The half closed with City on top 4-0. In the second half, Todd Hayes added his second goal and brought the score to 5-0, which would be the final tally. City managed top their highest score total in a match with 5 goals, while Ogewu Agbese earned the 2nd ever clean sheet for the team.
Rahr United faced FC Chaos who embarrassed 7 United players in the final match of the spring season. This time would be different as United tripled their attendance in Monday night’s match. Charlie Schlott scored early on an error from the keeper while Garret Horvath put away a nice volley from the top of the box. Schlott added a second goal before halftime to make the score 3-0. The second half turned out to be a light work out for the 22 players on the field as the score ended at 3-0. Stevan “Cruz” Cruz earned a clean sheet as United moved into a solo first place as Comets and La Puerta Hermosa tied 4-4.
FC Rahr faced a much improved Panther City squad, who also brought along a new skipper as Trey Penny stepped down after the spring season. Of course, former Panther City player, Ryan Byerly was of note as he joined Rahr this season to return to his natural position in the goal. FC Rahr took the field in a new, unfamiliar formation looking to create more goals for the match. John Allendorf found a seam in which he attacked, only to be taken down in the box drawing a PK. Chris Lockwood stepped up and buried the attempt putting Rahr on top 1-0, where the score would stand at half.
In the second half, Jared Childs pulled off some kind of trick shot from midfield on a free kick that took a few high hops, one of which bounced over the keeper and in the goal. However, Panther City would not go to sleep on the game as they battled back to ruin a clean sheet and put pressure on Rahr with a 2-1 score line. In the 78th minute, Fred Hawkins sent a ball sailing into the box as Jake Bailey put away a header on the other end of the cross. The final score gave FC Rahr their first win of the season, 3-1.
Week 2 Player's of the Game:
Rahr City - Todd Hayes, Brace
Rahr United - Charlie Schlott, Brace
FC Rahr - Jared Childs, Goal

Women Move into First; Silver Continues Win Streak
On the Thursday, the Rahrettes took on the reigning Women's Open champions, Blue Angels. There was no doubt it would be a tough match, and the 7 PM heat was no help either. The teams played to a 0-0 draw at halftime, leaving both teams wanting for more. The Rahrettes used a questionable line-changing tactic, but nonetheless managed to top the Angels in the second half. Katie Gaston moved from the back to the front to put away the games only goal. The Rahrettes moved into solo first place with a 1-0 victory.
Rahr Silver kicked off their second season, under the Friday night lights, taking on MPD. In the two teams only meeting last season, MPD topped Silver 2-1, but Rahr would be bringing a much improved squad to this match. Chris Costa stood in goal, as his new team took the field, after a bye in the first week. He would go on to manage a clean sheet while Silver's attacker would put away 4. After their 4-0 victory, the Rahr Football Club has started their seasons a combined 5-0-1, with FC Rahr earning the only loss. Monday will be another chance for the Men's Open squads to improve on the club's record.

Summer Season Starts
The Rahr Football Club boys started their summer season, hoping to continue on the girl’s successful start last Thursday night. All 3 teams looked to have strong squads in their divisions, and have high expectations for the season.
Rahr United started things off in a “Battle of the Beers.” Fat Tire FC showed up ready to play, in some sharp green jerseys, while United had enough players to scrimmage themselves, if they had an all time keeper. The game started with a slow, steady tempo that would rise and fall from time to time. After a great build up, Mike Salcedo would put away United’s first goal of the season, earning them a 1-0 lead. After a scorcher from Martin Cleworth, a PK from Charlie Schlott and a half field bomb from Cody Yarborough, United would take a 4-1 lead into the half. The game would end at 5-3 as United celebrated a great season opener.
Rahr City saw a lot of changes in the offseason as new manager, John “Hollywood” Leake, took the reigns. Leake promised to lead his new co-stars in a summer blockbuster he calls “Welcome to the City: We’ve Got Fun and Games.” In their first game of the season, City would take on 2 of their top former players, Arthur Kasjfosz and former manager, Art Fowler who now play with Jackalopes. The team would rise to the challenge, as newcomer, Isi Oamen would put away the team’s first goal under their new leadership. Brandan Stringer would add a second as Ogewu Agbese stood strong in the goal and held the Jackalopes to a single goal. The final tally had City on top 2-1. Agbese added “There’s a new sheriff in town. Yeeeup!”
FC Rahr came out looking to defend their Spring Season title, as they waltzed onto the field expecting another victory. Once everyone arrived, 3 minutes before game time, the team took on Dome City. Dome had previously forfeited their season and failed to play FC Rahr in the spring. Kyle Mittendorf would get things started, scoring on a volley from a corner. The score would stand a 1-0 going into halftime as Rahr looked to have settled into a comfortable groove. About 5 minutes into the second half, Joel Hargrave would go on a counter for Dome hitting a shot that new keeper, Ryan Byerly would shuffle away. Rahr’s defense failed to clear the ball and somehow returned it to Hargrave, who would not miss on the second chance. A short while later, Dome would go on the break again to take a 2-1 lead. Mack Ward put away a late equalizer for Rahr that was called back on an offsides call that broke the heart of the Rahr Nation, most notably Ashley Carvajal. In the end, FC Rahr earned the club’s first loss of the season, 2-1.
Week 1 Player’s of the Game:
FC Rahr – Kyle Mittendorf, excellent defending and goal
Rahr United – Martin Cleworth, excellent defending and goal
Rahr City - Erik Gonzalez
